Named as EichhoTech, the\nstart-up venture by a team of enthusiastic researchers and students,\naims to utilize the problematic aquatic weed <em>Eichhornia\ncrassipes<\/em> (Water\nHyacinth) for the manufacturing of diverse range of eco-friendly\nvalue added products.  These products were developed by over 20 years\nof painstaking research conducted at the Centre for Research on\nAquatic Resources led by its Principal Investigator, Dr. G. Nagendra\nPrabhu.  \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/test.sdcollege.ac.in\/inorgin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/20200605_160417_resized.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2983\" width=\"580\" height=\"268\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\n\tThe start-up Team Leader &amp;\nCEO is Mr. Anoopkumar. V, a research scholar in the     P. G.\nDepartment of Zoology and Research Centre where as the other members\ninclude Mr. Haree Krishna, Mr. Issac George and Ms. Arya. S, post\ngraduate pass-outs from Zoology epartment.  Other members will be\nincluded at a later stage. Dr. Prabhu will guide the team as its\nmentor and transfer the technologies to the start-up.  The products\nrange from biodegradable pots for indoor and outdoor plants,\nmulti-purpose boards, pens, exclusive designer works of art,\nsouvenirs etc. all from the troublesome plant.  The team has already\nsecured financial assistance, external mentoring and technical\nsupport from experts for three years through the Young Innovators\nProgramme of the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council\nof the State Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">\n\tThe soft launch of the\nstart-up was performed by Hon. Member of Parliament from Alleppey,\nSri. A. M. Arif who unveiled a logo EichhoTech printed in a special\ncanvas made from water hyacinth pulp.  He was presented with a\nbiodegradable pot with a chilly plant in it and his own digital photo\nprinted on handmade paper from water hyacinth.  Dr. P.R. Unnikrishna\nPillai, Principal, S. D.
