College, Alleppey has\nbagged the third prize at the Value addition for Income Generation in\nAgriculture (VAIGA 2018) &amp; Krishi Unnathi Mela organized by the Department\nof Agriculture and Farmers\u2019 Welfare, Govt. of Kerala during 27-30, December at\nTrichur.&nbsp; The award was presented by\nAgriculture Minister Mr. V. S. Sunil Kumar during the valedictory function held\nyesterday.&nbsp; There were more than 330\nstalls in the international exhibition on agro-processing and value addition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/test.sdcollege.ac.in\/inorgin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Vaigaaward.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2250\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dr. G. Nagendra Prabhu, Associate\nProfessor of Zoology and Principal Investigator of Centre for Research on\nAquatic Resources of Sanatana Dharma College, Alappuzha had developed\ninnovative technologies and products for the value addition of aquatic weeds\nlike water hyacinth through his research for the last 20 years.&nbsp;  He has\ndeveloped many rural technologies for the preparation of value added products\nfrom aquatic weeds such as water hyacinth and has launched a Community Training\nCentre in the College which provides training to rural women, self help groups\nand others.&nbsp;&nbsp; He has also served a member\nof the Expert Committee constituted by the Govt. of Kerala to suggest methods\nfor eradicating water hyacinth during 2009.&nbsp;\nRecently, a start-up called <strong>Ecoloop360<\/strong>\nhas been launched by three &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;M. Tech.\nstudents of Govt. Engineering College, Barton Hill, Trivandrum under his\nmentorship to produce and market value added products from water hyacinth.&nbsp; These technologies were selected for Special\nPrizes at the Rural Innovators Meet of KSCSTE, Govt. of Kerala during 2014 and\n2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/test.sdcollege.ac.in\/inorgin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/vaigastall.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2249\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dr. Prabhu has a Ph. D in\nBiotechnology and did post doctoral research in USA and Germany.&nbsp; He had also served as Associate Professor and\nCoordinator of the Department of Biotechnology in Asian Institute of Medicine,\nScience &amp; Technology, Malaysia.&nbsp; He\nhas more than 23 years of teaching and research experience and is a recognized\nresearch guide of the University of Kerala.&nbsp;\nCurrently he is serving as the Chairman, Board of Studies in\nBiotechnology of the University.&nbsp; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The exhibits of the Centre for Research on Aquatic Resources, S.
