One more feather on the cap for S. D. College. On 15th February, 2017\u00a0when India made history by sending 104 satellites to space, S. D. College\u00a0made a small beginning to address the problem of aquatic weeds affecting our country. A Community Training Centre was launched under the Centre for Research on Aquatic Resources. The training of the first batch of members of Kudumbasree Units of Alleppey Municipal Region was also started. The brochure of CRAR was released during the occasion. \u00a0Training programme is supported by the Kerala Biotechnology Commission, Govt. of Kerala.\u00a0Mr. Thomas Joseph, Chairman, Alleppey Municipal Council\u00a0inaugurated the programme. Principal Dr. Nataraja Iyer presided over the function. Vice Principal\u00a0\u00a0Dr. Jubily Navaprabha,\u00a0released\u00a0the brochure\u00a0of the programme.\u00a0Adv. Manoj Kumar, Chairman, Standing Committee on Education, Alleppey Municipal Council, Mr. Prithviraj, Manager, National Urban Livelihood Mission, Dr. K. Reghunath Krishnan Potty, Head, Department of Zoology and Dr. V. R. Prabhakaran Nair, Co-investigator of CRAR and Coordinator, IQAC were delivered felicitations.<\/p>\n
The Programme was conceived and being coordinated by Dr. Nagendra Prabhu, Chief investigator\u00a0of\u00a0Centre for Research on Aquatic Resources, S. D. College.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Womens’ Self Help group (“Kudumbasree”) units from 52 wards of Alleppey Municipality were\u00a0provided free training and facility to buy\/market the products that they made\u00a0from aquatic weeds.<\/p>\n
