College, Alappuzha. Previously, the three acre pond were polluted and surrounded by weed . Subsequently a group of youngsters<br \/>formed &#8216;Team Thanakulam&#8217; and took over the rejuvenation of Thanakulam. NSS Unit of Alappuzha S. D. College cooperates with the activities of Team Thanakulam since 26th<br \/>December 2021 during the annual seven day camp named &#8216;Punarjjani&#8217;. Every month NSS volunteers are involved in the renovation activities of Thanakulam. As part of conservation<br \/>activities in the first phase, native mango saplings were collected from the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources and planted near the bank of the pond. The main varieties like<br \/>Karimeenakanni, Madathilpulisseri Mango, Aanapuliyan, and Sarkkarakatt etc were planted there. Shudham Sivamayam , Devaranyakam and Nakshatravanam project also implemented<br \/>in Thanakulam.
