SEVANATHALAM (Musical Oriented Neuro Linguistic programme)
The National Service Scheme unit of S. D. College Alappuzha organized a Musical Oriented Neuro Linguistic programme called “Sevanathalam” under the leadership of State NSS Cell of Kerala. ‘Character formation through Social Service for an Anti drug world’ was the motto of the programme and it was conducted in connection with the ‘No to Drugs’ campaign by the Government of Kerala. The aim of the programme was to make everyone aware of Drug abuse happening in our society. The programme was led by NSS Alumni Volunteer and Famous Career Expert Sri. S. Ratheesh Kumar with the support of 30 NSS Volunteers of S.D. College, Alappuzha. The programme will continue to be performed at different schools, colleges and public places all over Kerala for a period of 1 year.
The programme ‘Sevanathalam’ had 4 sessions:
1. An awareness class against drug abuse. This session was about the importance of our life and how
the use of drugs is eating our life.
2. Songs and a Performance of Mime relating to drug awareness by the NSS unit of S. D. College,
Alappuzha.
3. A flash mob for conveying Anti-drug awareness.
4. The programme ended with making a Lahari Virudha Changala and singing of the Lahari Virudha
Prathinja Ganam written by the NSS Volunteers of S. D. College, Alappuzha.


A handbook “Kuttakrithyangalum Avayude Sankeernathakalum” written by S.D.V. Managing Committee Member Sri. A. Siva Subramanian and published by Sanatana Dharma Vidyasala for the good of the students was also distributed free of charge as part of the programme. The book discusses a concept to teach students about various crimes, its punishments and consequences aimed to create a crimeless society through awareness at a young age itself.
