A unit of the NSS was started in S. D. College in the year 1971. Presently two units are functioning in the college with a volunteer strength of 200. There is a college level Advisory Committee with the Principal as the chairman to advise and monitor the activities of NSS. Our unit is functioning in a well furnished separate office within the college premises. Our unit undertakes and performs all the regular and special activities which are directed by the University Cell as well as the State cell of NSS . We are prompt and regular in submitting the reports and returns. The unit has received several awards during the last 50 years of its colorful journey of Social Service. Dr. S. Lekshmi and Dr. P. K. Rethikala are serving as the present Programme Officers.
